Alan Aker, MD and John Aker, D. Min. formed The Aker Kasten Home Health Care Agency, LLC in Boca Raton, Florida. Driven by a desire to minister to more than the physical needs of their patients, The Akers offer emotional and spiritual care as well. Compelled to extend superior service, Aker Kasten Home Health Care Agency recruits and trains only those home health aides, companions, and homemakers who are committed to the unique vision and values of the agency and who demonstrate the gift of mercy. Realizing that traditional health care typically removes the patient from his/her home and all that is familiar, Aker Kasten Home Health Care Agency intends to offer caring with competence and compassion… Initially trained as a soldier at The United States Military Academy at West Point--where he excelled as both a scholar and a leader--and after serving a tour in combat arms, Alan Aker wrestled with a desire to serve people in a more personal and tangible way. He later completed medical school and specialized in ophthalmology. Along with his wife, Dr. Ann Kasten, Alan opened The Aker Kasten Eye Center. Together, they have been caring for the local community for more than twenty years. John Aker entered The United States Army at the beginning of The Viet Nam Conflict and, after intensive training in Military Intelligence, served as a covert agent. Yet John, too, was driven with a desire to invest his life in others. After completing a Master of Divinity, and later a Doctor of Ministry, John completed his twenty years in the active and reserve Army as a chaplain. John, along with his wife Rose, provided leadership to a college and seminary, pastored several mega churches, and served as president/ceo of an international humanitarian and missions agency ministering in the former Soviet Union. John is often sought after as a speaker and thus has enjoyed a speaking ministry which has taken him around the world. In addition, John has published three published books and countless journal and periodical articles. These brothers dreamed of one day working together, joining their passions for medicine and ministry. Their dream is realized in The Aker Kasten Home Health Care Agency where improving the quality of life for those with chronic or terminal illness, or others with home care needs, is a primary focus. Private duty care will be supplemented with access to chaplain services for patients and their families, ensuring care for each patient’s emotional and spiritual well-being in addition to traditional physical care. Dr. John B. Aker serves as Chief Executive Officer and is available as a speaker for social, seniors, or human awareness groups. |
